I am wondering the same thing....I am between the ranger and the gator right now?????? I keep going back and forth trying to decide on which one to get. It would be nice if gator would come with power steering, larger fuel tank (at least 7 gallons), and possibly a bench seat for 3 adults. It would make my decision a lot easier.

Would be difficult to build a bench seat for 3 adults as you are now getting into a pickup truck! I understand you wanting power steering but I really don't have any problems with the way the machine handles, steering is not really difficult, especially once rolling. Due to the speed and off road tires I think you would be more prone to oversteer if you had power steering. The ease of the steering might give you a sense of false security as to where you would not keep a firm grip on the wheel, hitting a stump or large rock would put that machine out of controll quickly.

I looked (shopped) for a Rhino or a Polaris. What I found was the base units were more expensive than I could get the Deere for. Accessories were all much higher that they should be but I guess that is where they make their money. I like the fact that I can get Deere parts basically forever. I had a really old 4x2 and parts were no problem at all. I know folks with really old JD tractors and parts are no problem. Given I could get the Deere cheaper than the other two, Rhino only comes in two colors this year and neither one is Camo, a friend has a Polaris that sounds like a thrashing machine now, I elected to go with the Deere.
To my knowledge all have engine made overseas somewhere. Polaris says their new 800 was designed in house but that don't mean it isn't being made by Fuji like the rest.
Guess it boils down to what you want. What works for me might not work for you. Good luck in your decision.

thanks for the input guys. back to the original post though, any ideas when the 2012s are coming out? Early June like the 2011s?
I would be using it for 95% work that is why I was wanting power steering. (work) is also the reason I am leaning towards the Gator, it just seems so much more versatile and work orientated. I could overlook the 3 person seating that the Ranger has, but a 5 gallon fuel tank? I am hoping that when I finally get to drive both, my decision will be much easier. I am holding out for around September 1st (Birthday present to myself which is on the 4th) and I also get a bonus from work on the 1st of September that I can add to the down payment.

The Gator only has a 5 gallon tank, but gets 2 - 3 mpg more than the Ranger.

Kohlpin makes a nice flat tank you can eaily carry in the bed for those long trips.

All I know is there will be some this year sometime but I don't see it as a big mover. Most people want a seat in the bed. It's a niche' market item but little practical use on the farm as a work unit. Bed looks like something from the CX line (green golfcart)- not a 1000# capacity I bet! and noticed 4 bolt hubs? Basically a green people mover??

I am going to new product intro on the 15th of August where they will have the 2012 Gator. I will post back after that with more details and factory production. I sold my 825i gator last night and want a 2012 but want to know more details first. Deere does have a bench seat, mine had one. Power steering will be retro to 2011 xuv'x deere claims! Was also suppose to be available in the spring! As Deere says "Stay Tuned"

PLEASE post here ASAP. I'm about to order a 825i and have it shipped to Europe, but if there's added/changed things worth waiting for, I will.
Thanks.
