Memorial day was officially proclaimed on May 5, 1868 by General John Logan, National Commander of the Grand Army of the Republic. First observed on May 30, 1868 when flowers were placed on the graves of the Union and Confedereate soldiers at Arlington.
Wheather you, family and friends are going to attend a parade or a barbeque at the beach, please give a moment of prayer remembering those who gave their lives so we all could realize freedom. Our brave men and women continue this very day putting their lives in harms way for us! Each and every one of us have had family members who answered the call of duty, many never returning, some returning with life long horrors of battle. For them we pray and thank God for what they have made possiable for each of us.
For all of you that have served, my hat is off to you and I say thank you!
Happy Memorial Day my friends.:USA:
