We just purchased an 855D. It has tail lights and backup lights but there is no switch to make them work. Why would they have the backup lights there but you have to spend another $40 to install the switch to hook them up? Confused!!!

There is no connection under the bed to hook up the wiring harness to. Dealer said we had to order that part of it for $40 -

The diesel version did not come with rear tailights/backup lights from the factory, They had to be ordered in as a separate kit that included everything to make them work.Sounds like you go got shorted some parts. The 825I comes factory installed.

If you read the JD brochure, the 825i comes with backup and tail lights and the 625i and the 855D doesn't. I don't think a switch will solve your problem, but it may. I would purchase the tail light/backup light kit from JD. You also don't get the digital dash in the 855D and the 625i, what gives here. This makes the 625i the worst purchase, that is in terms of $$$$, it's only $1200 difference between the 625i and the 825i and the 825i has much more to offer. As far as the 855D goes, I don't know what JD is thinking, charging more for the unit and giving you less.

We ordered the deluxe cargo box w/brake and tail lights and protector (Code 3002). This is the only 855D the dealer has had. They checked the 825i and the wiring harness hooks up to a switch for the backup lights. Ours has the wiring harness hooked up to nothing. Guess I need to have a chat with them, especially since they want to charge for putting the part on which sounds like it should have been there in the first place. Thanks so much to all for your comments.

when I got my 825i the back up lights would not come on when in reverse. I looked under the bed and the plug wasn't conected. No biggie the dealer missed it during the check I guess. It is located right above the rear diff lock linkage.
