My new 825i is idling at 2200 rpms and will slowly creep up to 2500-2800 rpms without anyone touching it while in neutral..... this is making it impossible to shift transmission between gears.... must turn off motor to shift. I backed out the idle screw - the mechanism would not come any further to slow down the idle even with the screw backed out a little.... is there a computer chip? any ideas on how to slow the idle? What is normal idle speed? thanks!

See my post on your other thread. Should idle around 850-900 when warm. Mine starts out around 1800-1900 and quickly goes back to 1300 or so and then down to the 900 range. I don't think there is an idle adjustment other than the computer controlling it on this engine.

950 after a minute, revs to 1075 when put into reverse (when backing out of the shop).

Take it to your dealer you got a sensor that is bad throttle position sensor on you intake.it's given to much voltage back to ecu and not idling down. Thanks hope this helps
