I would think, if this Gator will be used for plowing, it would have at least a windshield, if not a full cab. No snow application here.

Nice looking set up, though I have to agree with CCGATOR I would want a a full cab with heater! First year I purchased my new John Deere tractor I order a big front mount snow blower. Tractor did not have a cab or heat! Let me tell you I froze my rocks off and was constantly covered in snow. One month into the winter season I contact local John Dearre dealer and order a complete cab with heater (a must), wipers (a must), take down lights and stereo. The heater is 20K BTU, I can remove snow while wearing only a T shirt. I like it so much I do have the local neighbors.
Of course you may be young and really think that snow and cold is fun! I am old and have had enough of the white stuff.
Good luck my friend.

The whole 9 yards is just awesome man! I agree, gonna push snow, at least get the cab. I love the Plow. I went with the JD Option but wish I would have spent the extra for the Boss.

Apparently there's no snowmobilers in this group! hehe... I wouldn't own a gator without a windshield personally. Pricing on this Boss blade is NOT bad at all compared to the PowerTach that I normally sell and it's a much more capable, versatile.

I'm concerned from reading your posts that the standard blade from JD is not going to plow/hold up to the snow that I am going to encounter here in Preston County, WV. Anyone have any experience with the standard blade? I simply didn't have the $$ left to spend on the upgraded blade with all the boxes I checked on the orderform. I do have the cab and windshield so I won't freeze but I hope the blade will handle the snow that pumbles this area.

Your machine will be plenty capable duling. I have schools and parks that plow with a TX (2wd) and the JD blade and they are just a monster with weight in the bed and diff lock. I have one business complex that uses 2wd gators to do 7 miles of sidewalks while big snow pushes do the parking lots. It's all about expectations and what your salesman told you. They arent a bulldozer but for home use, commercial and municipal snow work they are awesome.
The JD factory blade isn't in the same class as the Boss or the Powertach but neither is the price. I don't like the subframe of the JD blade, it lowers clearance but I like the way it distributes force on the frame. So there's a trade off to everything. So, just how much are all those hydraulics worth to you is the question.
BTW, blade cycle time on the Boss was pretty impressive, this is what commercial guys are after, speed=time=money. This has little value to a homeowner generally (read as-what are you willing to pay dearly for).

Awesome, thanks a million! I can't wait for the snow to fly! Two winters ago they got 300inches of snow up here so I am sure she will get a workout. I will see how it goes.... I don't want to have to dip into savings to pay for the Boss or Powertech blade.. Here's to hoping I never have to!

Man thats a nice plow!!!!!!!!! I have a Boss v-plow on the F-450 Dump truck and LOVE it!! And a John Deere 3720 with cab and front mount blower and in that thing you van blow snow in a tshirt and shorts!! SInce i got my new gator i have been in love with the getting a plow. MAn i would love to have that plow and even just a windshield would be fine with me. For some reason i like plowing snow and would start a plow business along with my landscaping but about 5 months ago i got a County motor grader job so i cant plow on the side unless they arent in a big hurry to get out!! lol..
Hopefully talk the wife into the Boss V-plow for the gator! we'll see!
Be sure to post pictures of that thing in Action!

Very nice setup. A considering the same plow. What size of trailer do you have to haul with the boss plow installed.

seen the videos but there all the same paved parking lots with light powered snow i live near mt. davis in pa and have a hlaf mile drive through the woods with not alot of room to plow back and while I should have a blower they are just to slow compared to a plow currently I'm plowing with old pickup with 7.5 ft western and the boss vx-t is six inches taller and a foot shorter and I know when Im pushing heavy snow how hard it works the truck but its in rough shape and Im tired of dumping money in it and since i have the gator i would like to kill two birds with one stone and get ride of my old truck but im leary what do ya think?

If you have a narrow driveway i would say the XT boss plow would work good since it would throw the snow plenty far.
right now i have a f450 with a vplow and it plows great! So i think the vplow on the gator would work pretty good. But i cant say from experience

well thanks for the info I guess if i want a plow its about the only choice unless i get a atv plow but the height of those dont look good at all and I've read about the power tech plow and seems like the cylinders need some work they said they work slow when they get warm and I dont need another agravating machine to maintain

i would say with the gator since it weighs more it would do better than an ATV. And V-plows are the BEST for opening up roads and busting through snow drifts.

I scaled a new gator with the basic goodies installed (bars, sprayed in bed liner, bed lift ect) without a plow, came in at 1800lbs - Plenty of beef there. For the difference in price the Boss is a no brainer over the Powertach. I use a Yamaha Kodiak 4wheeler with a 48" blade and it's a beast, but no comparison to what guys are doing with these Gators, 4-wheeler is a tinker toy in comparison. I think you would be impressed what they will do in 2wd alone (with weight in bed). I would like to see some kind of front suspension upgrade or aftermarket kit or something though. We loaded a 825 gator up with glass cab and Powertach, with springs turned all the way up it was still a sagger but customer was blown away with performance. Hje lives a mile from me so I was able to keep an eye on his place last winter. We had a lot of snow, and he never had an issue. I can only imagine how much more versatile the Boss V could be. I wouldn't think twice about it.
