I just bought a 16' car trailer trailer to haul my 2011 825i on. Does anybody know why the owners manual says to BACK the gator onto the trailer? How do you all haul your gator (parked facing forward or backed on)? Can it be trailered facing forward?
AND, any problems with the windshield/ Roof or any other accessories from JD that might be damaged by the wind when towing? I was going to go with a soft top, and now I have changed my mind to have the POLY roof so that it can be trailered with the roof on it, as the soft top says you have to take it off when trailing the gator.
Any suggestions on which way to trailer it, best tie down points and whether or not the roof/ windshield can hold up to being trailered would be appreciated.
Thanks!

I haul mine on a 16' car hauler as well. I have the poly roof but no windshield yet. I was worried about the same thing with the roof but so far I haven't had any problems. I've only trailered mine about 500 miles so far, time will tell. When I do add the windshield, I plan on removing it while trailering. I had a friend blow the windshield off his RZR while trailering at 80 mph. I keep my speed under 70 mph with the gator in tow.

Where do you attach the front & rear tie downs to? Do you attach them to the front& rear hitch??

Here's how I haul mine around, 12 ft. trailer, works great.
Drop the chain over the hook and let it roll back till tight, then snug er down in the rear.

I haul mine on a dual axle 12 foot open trailer facing forward. I have a Diamondback roof and no windshield. The only thing I have done is velcro the seat belts to the roll bars as they have a tendency to unwind and flap around in the breeze.

I wouldn't worry about the soft top, it comes on and off in a 60 seconds.

I haul my 620i on a 12' trailer facing forward.
I have the 1/2 windshield and it is holding well.

I haul mine facing forward, on an 18' 10K trailer. I attach G70 chain at 4 corners, hooked on the hitch receivers, with binders in the back. Overkill, but I had the chain/binders from hauling a compact tractor around a few years ago. I have the poly-roof, with glass windshield and flip up panel. There is about 3 feet high of front & side stake boards and I'm sure that deflects much of the wind. No issues after a couple dozen trips.

Thanks everybody for the advice and posts! I took my trailer in today and got 11 D-rings welded in it....maybe a little over kill, but I haul an ATV and the Gator. I also ordered a roof and windshield today.

I use a 6x10 tilt trailer..single axle. I have to back in on due to the tilt feature. With the engine in the rear of the Gator, it makes it a loading nightmare. Two grown men had a hard time tilting the trailer down in order to pin it! After some thinking, we decided to back it on and miraculously the trailer tilted down just fine, pinned it, and away we went.
