So how is The BOSS plow treating ya? I think I have the same one. I can't wait to use mine. I was a little surprised that the plow package didn't include a snow deflector (that rubber thingy on the top of the blade that keeps the snow from blasting over the blade). Are you considering getting one? The dealer quoted me $180 for a "BOSS" brand deflector which I think is crazy. I made my own...

I tried it out the other day after getting some plow shoes for it and its a huge step up from the straight blade and 4wheeler i'm used to using for snow removal. The real test will be once we get some actual snow. I was thinking about getting that snow deflector but was quoted around 190 bucks from the local BOSS dealer so it wont be happening. Only thing i don't like about the plow is how it covers the head lights, and adding lights to the OPS isn't an option as they'd be catching branches, so I made my own plow light bar.

Any pictures of the plow light bar you made?
If you are interested in an alternative to the $190 BOSS deflector, I made my own for under $25. I went to Fleet Farm and bought 7' of 6 inch wide rubber belt.... same belt you use on an older tractor with the power take off wheel that you hook up to a saw rig or something on that order. And then a few bolts.. I'll get a picture of it and post it soon. Looks decent. $3 per foot for that belt. We'll see how well it works. Hopefully the belt is rigid enough.

yeah I'll post a few after I get it finished.
What did you do for the center piece on your snow deflector?

ratrod,
Great question... Right now I haven't done anything to address the center piece in the snow deflector. My thought is the only time that is needed is when you bust a path in "V-plow" mode. Otherwise you are either angeling the plow or in the "Scoop mode" where the center flap is really not necessary. If it becomes an issue a thought I had was to buy some more of that belt and make a piece with slack in it (bowed up in the middle) and attach it to the two closest bolt holes in the middle.
Side note - how's the ice in MN now? We typically make a trip over to Cass, Leach, Pike, Winnie area. We are pushing 8-10" of ice on lakes in northern WI now.

I cant quite say for sure how the ice is, but almost daily I see atv's and ice house sleds on trailers so it must be thick enough to support a wheeler.
