Have the shaft out to replace the front bearing, but the new bearing do not have screws like the "old" one to fix it to the shaft (see image). Have I got the correct bearing, or....? JD part# on the bag carrying the bearing is AM142310.

Please help.

Thanks.

Yes, That is the correct bearing. I replaced mine a couple of months ago, and wondered the same thing. Verified with my dealer that it was correct and then installed.

Mine was replaced about two weeks ago and that is the correct one. John Deere installed mine as it was under warranty.

Thanks guys.

Just finished the work and took it for a short trip - so far no noise. Now I just need to go through the whole #"!&?#% thing again, as my brothers Gator has the same issue

I am assuming your machine are out of warranty and no extended warranty?

Bought it in August last year, so had I been a US citizen, I would have been covered. Since I didn't buy it through my local dealer, they wont help. I got the bearings for free from the US dealer, but the work is the heavy part in it so.....

Out of curiosity I today have emailed JD's costumer service dept., asking about their warranty policy on new machines exported by individuals
. Maybe they can force my local dealer to take care of warranty work :hdscrh:

How difficult was the install? Where did you get install instructions?

It's pretty easy - just take your time. For a novice like me, it took 1? hour.

I didnt get instruction along with the bearings, but I have the tech manual and used the "Drive Shaft Removal and Installation" instruction. Below is a scan, if you need it. Thought I could avoid to remove the battery, but you have to, as a small part of the battery tray use some of the space in the drive shaft tunnel.
