Well, finally had a couple of nice days and installed the Prosum Equipment cab. Did not get the doors. Still need to finish the wiring and install the rear lights. Wish I has read the instructions for the rear lights and would have put them on with the roof. Now have to take out the two rear bolts-which were a b---- to put on and replace them with the lights. Well worth the money and a bargain.1010101110121013

That is one sweet looking cab, nice install. One thing I really like about this cab is you can purchase what you need to start with, then add on as money comes in. Great concept! I for one beleive this cab is worth every penny.

Does the windshield pop out a few inches so you can vent the cab? Looked like it did in one of the pics but I wasn't sure.

In total about 5 hours, still need to wire lights but that looks simple. My wife helped--you definitely need a helper and an air wrench. Have to bolt the back window base to the frame by taking off two of the bolts. After trying to do it with a ratchet wrench bought an air wrench and that did the trick.

Yes the lights also came from Prosum.

You can order all the kits separately. The roof kit however needs either the header/light kit or the header kit at $94.00.

i hope this doesn't sound like a dumb question, but what exactly is the header kit? its purpose etc?

There are no dumb questions. The header kit is the plastic piece that goes on the front of the cage. It is bolted in place then the roof is bolted to it securing the roof in place. If you get the windshield the windshield hinge is screwed into it. The header light kit includes the lights and inside has the switches and inside light as well as the motor for the windshield wiper if you get one of those. All in all a very clever design.

I have decided that Prosum is the right choice for me, I am going to order in sections over time starting with roof & header kit. If possible would someone post a photo of the inside of the wind shield where it comes down to hood dash area? The reason is that I am thinking of mounting a gun rack on the top of the dash, locating a Y on the black plastic just in front of the steering wheel & just to the left of the glove box. It appears the is a good solid base of steel underneath that black plastic trim.
Thanks,
Dale

greg825i, as soon as I get this move completed, Maint to NC, I will breakdown and purchase the complete cab setup as you have. I will take the loss and sell of my John Deere roof, rear screen and windshield. This is by far the nicest setup out there.

Keep up the great work building your dream.

Hi Larry, are you selling your roof and windshield in Maine or you selling it after you get to NC.
What type of windshield. Could you send pics and price. I am looking for a roof and windshield.
Thanks for your time, Gator Joe

Greg, i am about to order my 825i and have a question for you. As far as fit and finish are you happy with the prosum cab? I am torn between it and the jd deluxe. Just hard to justify $4k for a cab.

Fit and finish are great. I do not have the doors but everything went together and looks great. You will not be sorry if you go that way and you will save $$. Best of luck.

Greg, thanks for thE reply. On the front of the roof there is a space between the headlight openings. Would that allow a light bar to be mounted there or is it just for aesthetics? Thanks in advance.

I am planning to purchase a top and windsheild for my 855D before winter and I had a couple of questions about the Prosum cab. Is the windsheild glass and is the top durable, something that would not crack very easily, also how much does the top add to the height of the Gator? Thanks

greg825i

Jeff

I suppose you could mount a light bar there. The lights supplied give you an awful lot of light on their own. But again I guess you can never have enough light. I would first see if the light is sufficient for you before investing in a light bar.

Yes the windshield is glass and stands up to teh occasional branch and stone. The top is very durable. Some of the trails I have been on have the occasional low hanging branch and the top has stood up to all of that. I had the same question about added height but its less than an inch. Good luck.

For those who have the Prosum cab, how hard is it to remove the rear window and panel? I'm thinking I will only have that on in the winter. I haul quite a bit of brush and it's nice to be able to put some of the limbs past the front bed wall. I don't want to tear up the rear window and panel hauling brush.

Not hard--just a lot of phillips screws. Good idea BTW.

Thanks. I plan on leaving the windshield and roof on year round but first and foremost, the gator needs to remain a work machine. Hauling brush is one of it's biggest jobs.

Do I have to have the rear panel to mount the rear lights or do they mount on the roof? To start with, I think I'm going to order everything you did minus the rear panel kit. I would like to get rear lights so if I need the rear panel for them, I'll go ahead and get it as well. Thanks

Thanks. I'll probably go with everything but the doors and rear panel then. I'll go ahead and get all of the lights. I'm thinking the rear panel may not do me that much good without the door kit. I don't think I'll be using my gator all that much this winter and if I do, I'll be all bundled up anyway. I've ridden my Harley 25 miles at 28 degrees at 60 mph before. That windshield will have to give as much protection as my bike windshield.

Greg,

I pick my prosum stuff up tomorrow. Do you have any install tips such as where to start, what to leave loose for the time being, etc? I don't want to get something mounted and tightened down only to have to take it back off to put something else on. Thanks for all your help and advice.

greg825i
08-28-2012, 09:38 PM
Probably the best way to do it is to put the Header in its approximate location but don't completely tighten it down, install the Rear Panel Kit, then put on the Roof Kit. The roof bolts should go in starting with the back two, then work forward. The front roof bolts will help locate the Header in its final location. Finally, the Windshield Kit can be installed. Hope this helps.

What watt are the lights on the front of the roof? How do the lights mount into the sockets? I am considering going with LED lights on the roof when I get one for the reduced draw on the electrical system and the added brightness of the LED lights.
