had a 825 for a little over a month now and love the unit. fews things i think deere could improve upon in the future but all in all its been awsome. just wondering if anyone has or knows if you can overide the on demand 4wd so as the machine goes into 4wd when the dash button is switched? havent done too much terrain where it is needed but where i have been i wish the 4wd was engaged and turning, not waiting on the rear tires to slip. any info appreciated. thanks in advance

nothin?? come on. someones gotta have some kind of ideas. ive been reading and polaris seems to use somewhat of the same system. do the deeres front use 12v to power the front drive. maybe hook switch directly to 12v source? really am not too positive on how the sytem works. maybe there are some deere techs on here that are trained in the operation of these that would like to chime in?

The front diff is energized by 12v to a selinoid that engages the fwd, Leave your switch on when in rough terrain and you will have 4wd on demand.

There is either a senser on the rear axles or a center diff but I think its a senser I have no idea how you would override it would try and look for a diagram of the the output to the front driveshaft

ya ill have to try and get my hands on a tech manual. would like if i could manually engauge and not have to wait for the rears to spin and lose momentum. im sure theres no drawbacks to the system just not used to it.

Along these same lines, does the rear axle have to be engaged in order for the front wheel drive to engage ?

i think the fronts engage with the rear in limited slip or locked up when button is selected. only thing is it will take a bit more to get the rears to slip when it is locked up

The front engages when the rear is both locked or unlocked. I havent had any problems with getting stuck even with it only engaging when the rear starts to spin. Mine engages 4wd pretty much instantanious.

Thank for the information Joe. I have not had any issues either, was just wondering. My Gator has taken me any and everywhere I have wanted to go so far !

Same here! I am extremely impressed at the amount of traction the machine has. In the winter when I first bought it there was no stopping it. I felt like a tank
