Drove my new RSX home from the local dealer 2 weeks ago from this past Saturday and had it down to Ride Royal Blue in TN already last weekend. I must say I got a few odd looks but she held her own pretty well! We pulled some Polaris's out on a few different occasions, (see the attached pictures) and it seemed like there was next to nothing that would stop the RSX! I think Deere did an excellent job preparing this thing for the brutal conditions on the trails, we were in water a few inches from the seat, mud holes above the wheels (I know it was up to the muffler cuz I had to pick mud out of the spark arrestor screen when I got home), and over ruts and rocks as big as the gator itself. Although I am comparing to the 825i my dad uses for trail riding that drowns in knee deep water (nothing our homemade snorkel couldnt fix ha) which, granted, I know the 825i was made for working but its awefully frustrating when the Polaris Rangers make it through the creeks and the 825i is left with a squealing belt. That being said, there was only a couple small problems I could find with the RSX. First, we might have made it over the rocks but I swear I cringed over half of them because I knew that nice poly skid plate was taking a beating. I had between me, a passenger, and two coolers packed plum full of beverages :Chers: probably 400 lbs so I'm sure that had something to do with it, but nonetheless, first thing once I got home I threw 480 lbs of suitcase weights on the gator and adjusted the shocks so I would have 10.5" of ground clearance (what Deere has it spec'd at) compared to the actual ground clearance of 9" at operating weight. Next, I love the front compartment, it's HUGE, but the hood dont seal up tight enough to make it what they call "watertight", I found this out after some of the deep water and my gear in the bottom of the box was under 2 inches of water. Other than that the only thing I can hold against the RSX is that it could not beat the Polaris RZR shown in my pics. It is an S edition so it is a little bit higher output than the standard model but the gator still has 50 cc's on it so I would have hoped it could have at least beat it off the line. Either way I love my RSX and I'm sure it will be giving me many more fun and exciting times in the future.
Also, I wanted to address some of the people complaining about the bed size, Deere built the RSX to compete with other sport model sxs's...compared to other sxs's (RZR cough, cough) this gator has tons of room. I carried 2 full sized coolers easily and could have fit a spare tire and gas can. That's almost all you would ever need for a hard day on the trails!!! :BG:
All in all, the RSX kicks butt!!!
