I just downloaded an app on my iPhone called Decibel 10th. I have a prosum windshield and roof. The rest of the cab area is open. Sitting in the driver's seat at idle, it registered at 80db. My iPhone is in an otterbox case so it may affect it a little.
For those with 825's and iPhones, you can download the free app to see how they compare to the diesel.

Do you have the sound deading kit - option from John Deere?
I have 855D with the delx cab and glass winshield and will check.
Thanks,

No, I don't have any insulation or sound deadening. I have no back window or doors at this time. I just put the windshield and roof on a few weeks ago but didn't know about this app before then. I would suspect that the db would have been a few lower with no windshield and roof.
I've read a lot of complaints about how loud the diesel is so I thought I'd share. I'll try to get a reading at full speed on gravel vs asphalt as well.

I'm in the market for either an 825i or an 855d. I test drove both recent, no windshield, no top. The 825i to me, was louder than the 855d. And the diesel was smoother.....but slow. That diesel screams for a small turbo.

At full speed on gravel, I was at 95db.
