First oil change.

Hello everyone. I'm going to do the first oil change this weekend on my RSX 850 and wondered about a couple things. Looking at owners manual it dosent read anything about removing the skid plate. Does it take a special wrench for the filter though that access hole?
An other question is why change oil at 8 - 10 miles for first change? I don't recall any motorcycles or anything eles I've owned that required this. Not that I'm complaining. Just currious.

It is the first 8 hrs for service. For the drain plug it is a 10mm allen wrench and for the filter you can easily access it with a filter wrench from the top with the bed tilted up and the passenger seat leaned forward without removing the skidplate.
