2004 M-Gator Diesel 2nd oil fill cap?

I recently acquired a 2004 M-Gator with the Yanmar Diesel. While checking everything out I noticed that there is a 2nd oil fill cap on the side of the engine. Looking at the parts breakdown it shows up under "gearcase housing" but does not appear that it is for a seperate oil system. Is this something I need to service or is it just there for crankcase oil filling in a different application? What I have found in the service manual only refers to servicing the engine oil through the valve cover cap.

Hi Chris, have you found out what the other cap is? Could it be a breather cap?

It is just for different applications, on my JD 2320 compact tractor, I use the one on the side. I believe the top one is also used in marine applications.
