View Full Version : UTV Cattle Guard?

I have a gate behind the house that I keep locked. It's about 12 feet wide and I put it there to move farm equipment through and of course drive through when I was doing my own hay baling and hauling. Now I keep the gate locked whenever the hay balers or haulers come, in order to force them not to be driving by the house all the time, and make them access through other gates.

Now that I have my Gator, I would like to build a cattle guard there, just wide enough for it to go through, but not inviting for even a pick up to go through.

Rather than dig a pit and put in a conventional cattle guard. I am thinking about something that I can weld together in the shop and then simply set it in place on some concrete blocks or even pour some footings if I have to. It would be more like a bridge that would rise a foot or two since the Gator would have no problem climbing it. I will set a few stretch posts and place this a few feet from the 12' gate rather than doing away with it.

Has anyone done anything like this before?
