John Deere 825i "cover"

Moving from a farm in Maine where I was able to park "11" vehicles inside to a home in NC where I have ONE two car garage and two out buildings, I find my 825i stays outside more then I like. I am able to park the machine inside but it takes up most of my "shop".

I have been thinking of purchasing an OEM John Deere cover, this I think would limit the fading due to the hot NC sun as well as all the rain during hurricane seasons. In the event of a hurricane landing near by I would put the 825i inside.

Questions: Has anyone purchased a factory cover? If so please let me know what you think about it. If anyone has purchased something different that they think is better please chime in too!:pondrn:

Just for note: I have the top, mirrors as well as the front basket.

My father purchased a cover from Cabelas. It's a heavy canvas type material that is extra large to fit over UTVs with extra stuff on them. He has had it since he bought his 09 Ranger and you can't tell any wear has happened with it. It's one of the items on my to buy list.

I own a 2011 John Deere Gator 825. It is physically one of the largest on the market. That being said this cover fit it with ease. It's made very well, and uses high quality components. This cover will be around for years in sun or storm. If you have a UTV spend a little extra for the deluxe.

Dave, thanks for the quick reply! I just went to the link you provided and read all the feedback. Sounds like a quality cover. I do like the idea of the zippers allowing you into the cab area. Both side may have been better but one is sufficent.

I don't think the John Deere one has zipper access?

Hoping for a few more responses before I dive into the purchase. Would like to order something with in the next day or so.

The portable garage kit is a good idean, however, I live on water, where the Neuse River flows into the Atlantic. Hurricane season each year would no doubt do a number on one of those. During the threat of a hurricae I would put the machine inside. Cover would work for me best as the machine is outside majority of good weather. I want to prevent or at least try to prevent fading and keep the rain out of the cockpit.

Come on guys I need more feedback on covers. Sor far Cabelas seems to have a stronger and more usable cover for the same price as John Deere, am I right or wrong?

Haven't seen you around in a while, how's the new house? Been wondering how you fared through the storm and praying for your safety.

A couple of my friends have had a guy who makes boat covers make covers for their Polaris Rangers. You get the material you want in the color you want and can add any extras. Just a thought.

Steve: Thanks for ringing in, we are doing extemely well and just about fully settled in. Home is nothing but beautiful with a wonderul view of the water. Was a costly move but well worht it. Do I miss farming, somewhat I do. I really miss all the building where I could keep things. We had a massive yard sale, it about killed me to see all my years of collecting tools and such go for a fraction of the cost. I have no regrets. Life here is a much slower pace, but no more firewood, snow or working the fields.

The area we purchased is a bit of an upscale area where some of the home owners are a tad snooty. It's a private community where some individuals believe they set the law. When I first got here I received a letter about driving my 825i around (private paved roads) the community. That didn't set well with me, I fired of a return letter advising them to give me a summons for court. I have not heard a peep since then. Most people love the machine. I drive around at about 10mph as daily I take my 87 year old mother down to the water's edge. They need to get a life.

Have 2 out building that I have finally got set up they way I want them. Just finished the garage where I took down the previous owner's shelfs and benches, removed all nails and painted the entire garage. I finished the floor with the epoxy floor kits and then topped it with the high gloss epoxy sealer. Looks like a million dollars. Oh I forgot the neighbors just love to hear me leave in my Impala SS when I take it out! I guess I am the rebel of the hood!

The next two days we have the painters here doing the entire inside of the home. Home is about 10 years old, owned by elderly couple, but a fresh coat of paint will make her shine!

Long story but I have been so darn busy, will be back in full force soon though.

Carolina car ports is what I would do Deputy. They have some small ones you can get sides and a door on. They can put them up in a day. I use them for hay coverage and I have one for a shop that is about 30x35. Covers are useless. Hard to get on, hard to get off, takes too long, don't last IMHO.

I bought the John Deere brand cover when I bought my 825i. It fits like a glove and is a very high quality item IMHO. The only thing I worry about is what happens next summer in the heat. The cover is black, so it will be an oven underneath it in the Texas Sun. I hope to have some different storage arrangements by then though.
