About to enter the Brotherhood!!! Please help.

Hi Guys- Should start by saying I have been a stalker on this site for longest time and enjoy your enthusiasm, honesty and banter!

Well I am about to take the leap and join the brotherhood but have a question. I have built my machine on the Johne Deere website and the total is in the $18,700 range (I was little shocked that the deluxe cab @ $2,000 didn't included doors). I am going buy the 2012 825i in camo...unfortunately my implement dealer doesnt have the machine in stock so he's trying to track one down from another dealer. I would wait until the 2013's come out but the $800 dollar rebate doesnt apply and frankly I cant wait another 2 or 3 months! So here's the question sorry I am so naive...having never done this before....what if any negotiating goes on with the price? Because my buildout on the website says 18,700 is that what I should expect to pay? If not, what sort of reduction should I shoot for 2%-5%-10%? Any other suggestions you can offer I'd be very much obliged.

I bought my 825i at a JD dealer that is part of a large chain of dealers. I got it 7% cheaper than the build your own price.

I think 7% is a very fair reduction. I got mine for about 5% below msrp.

I asked my dealer can you do any better very politely Usually a JD dealer very helpful and will give you the bottom line. They honestly don't make much on these machines I found out. I just picked up my poly sport roof for my rsx and they charged me 250 instead of the msrp 300. That kind of thing will keep me coming back as a loyal customer and refer others. :Thmup:

Generally if you order a machine with the goodies on it from the factory, you can save up to 10% rather than "piece mealing" it together afterwords, I don't think the "Build Your Own" takes that into account.

I guess I should clarify that, the add ons will be reduced by up to 10%. I was able to get a 2012 model year clearout reduction on top of the JD rebate.

Thanks Jake....a model clear out has not been mentioned and now there is some confusion as to whether the rebate program has expired????? Dealer seemed to think so...I need to research it for myself. Thanks so much for all the suggestions guys.

The rebate should be on their website under "Special Offers". As far as the 2012 model clearout, that was my dealers' offer on top of the rebate. It may well have been him giving me a deal as I have spent a few $$ there in the last couple of years on other machines, but he mentioned that they were trying to get rid of the 2012s.
I hope your dealer is able to find a machine for you.

My reduction was 9% from the build price almost 4% after taxes. I ordered mine with the deluxe cab but didn't buy the doors. I wish I would of got them from the beginning. I love it though. Almost 600 miles in 2 1/2 months.
