I purchased my new 825i gator on Oct. 26, 2012, has 4.8 hours on it and returned to the dealer this morning, 11/19/12, with a broken velocity joint on the front passenger side. My dealer did not have a new unit in stock, but admitted to having replaced several.... mine with the least hours to date. My machine has not been beat on and has not been in what I would call a stress situation. It sounds like this may be a weak point for this machine??? Anyone else had this problem??

I like the machine very much, love the motor, traded in my 1996 6x4 gator when I purchased this one. Never had any trouble with the old one...

I only have a little over 10 hours and have not had the problem. I hope it is not pervasive throughout all machines.

Best of luck with it and please keep us informed.

No problem with the CV joints on my unit, just noise from the alternator belt area. I will probably buy the extended warranty. About $400 for one additional years, and $600 for two years. Residential only.

No problems with mine yet and I've been driving it where it had no business being....it's just taking the beatings and begging for more.:Jestr::Jestr:

Me too. I want the engineers to be proud of their machine! I don't want to tear it up but I want to use it like it was built to be used..:Ysnd:

I had a front CV joint break back in February, had 50 miles on the machine. I got the parts under warranty and fixed it myself..

There is a post in the Tech section, see "front diff noise" started 9-15-2010. If you follow the thread there is/was a problem with the front drive shaft that aparantly has been corrected by Deere, but there is also potential for problems within the front diff. and the cv joints..... you can follow that thread in its entirety(?sp) if you wish. I hope my problem is just a bad cv joint, just this one time....????

Happy Thanksgiving to all

My Gator is currently in the dealer for it's 3rd round of front differential noise. They just called and said it sounds to be a pillow bushing again....that's the 3 time it has been replaced....should I have them check out the CV joint?

Well, if the dealer remove the shaft and can drive it around with the noise gone, it must be the pillow bushing. Sure they dont keep replacing the bushing with the old style bushing?

Hopefully they'll replace the axle and you'll be good to go for a long time after that.

Just picked 825i up at the dealer, 11/27, the steel cage that holds the ball bearings in the CV joint failed. The part must have had a flaw from when it was manufactured, failing at under 5 hours. Hopefully I will not see any more of that.... but obviously it happens!

Picked up the JD scratch proof windshield and a cover while I was at the dealer.... boy JD does not give those windshields away!!

Merry Christmas to all !!

Yes Haymaker, they don't give stuff away. If it's any consolation though, I bought the windshield and the cover and find both of these items to be very high quality.
