New to me rough gator, looking to I'd it and get it running

I acquired a 6x4 for cheap. Has a bad battery. No ignition switch and no hood. A few cut wires. They said it was running when the moved it to where it was when I got it.

Priorities right now are:
I the year so I can get parts
New battery so I can raise the bed
Get an ignition switch
Check the fluids and see what happens.


How can I verify the year and can I use something other than a jd switch in the dash, dealer.wants 70.00 for it.

congrats on the purchase. You can use any kind of switch as long as it is wired correctly. Also the vin tag should identify the year.

Turns out they were pricing me a ignition module. Found another dealer with the switch for 20.09 out the door but I am tempted to just wire a switch in for now until I know what I have gotten into
