Highway Windscreen

There have been some online mentioning roof cracks after trailering their Gators on the highway. County roads and 55mph don't seem to be a problem but when you're going 70+ mph and getting buffeted by other traffic I think it's too much for the windscreen and roof to take. So, I've made a windscreen to be used when on the highway.

I wanted the lights to still be visible for driving onto the trailer in the dark. The main part of the shield was a 8' sheet of corrugated, galvanized steel used for decking under concrete pours that was leftover from building my house. It's strong enough to withstand the wind without requiring support in the middle.

No part of the wind screen touches any plastic parts like the roof and windshield.

Here it is as it would be after the highway trip. The windscreen is held on with 7 nuts and the studs are welded or locked in position so I don't need two wrenches. It can be put on and taken off by one person in less than two minutes, a important consideration if you've ever had to load up in the dark when it's 34f and raining.

These are the pieces that stay on the Gator. The brackets add 8 pounds to the Gator. The top bar has vertical studs so it's easy to thread on the nuts.

I did not want studs sticking up on the front bar because it would probably be me getting scraped or getting snagged on them. The front of the screen has bolts sticking down that drop into holes in the bar.

The windscreen brackets take about 3 1/2 minutes to put on and take off. I will only put them on the Gator when I have to trailer it on the highway. Something that only happens once or twice a year.

They attach to existing holes in the front bumper and ROPS so no holes or modification to the gator.

Pretty niftty! Not as expensive as an enclosed trailer!

I measured just to make sure but the Gator is too tall for my 6' high enclosed trailer. Simply driving in would have been much easier.
