Hi all new go forum I bought a new trail RSX a few weeks ago I am likening it so fare took it to locally rock park first weekend I had it and found a week point so now I am building it to were its going to be more capable. I had been running most of the day when oil pressure light came on so I shut it down and looked and oil was pouring out all the holes in plastic skid plate. So I got pulled back took it to dealer and pulled skid off to find the oil return line had been pinched between plate and engine case and cut it. So I deter minded it needed better engine coverage due to no support under it so I used our CNC plasma table and cut a engine skid plate to mount under the engine. Then I also found the stock belts don't do to good for rock crawling so I pulled stock belts out and welded in a new crops bar and attached new 5 point harnesses in. I also added the big gun single exhaust system to it and it seem to give it more power and definitely a different sound. Once we get our new bender in I am hoping to make a completed custom cage due to not trusting a factory cage. Can't wait to get it all fixed up to give them rzr boys a run for there money.

Rearly this will be the 2nd front diff and 3rd axle first diff we broke the Houseing in half and first axle we broke in driveway at dealership the axles don't hold up aswell as I thought they would but they will eventually get some that will. the RSX is basically a 550 with bigger motor all axles and most parts interchange between the 2. And were I broke this time ir t rearly wasn't as bad as were we had been. But I will eventually get the bugs worked out I been talking with our Deere territory rep on some problem areas to see if they will make improvements like the front diffs have already had a parts number change so they have changed something in them so hoping it holds up better.
If the RSX has the same drivetrain as the 550 I suppose I should be happy. I don't think my little Briggs has the power to snap drive shafts.

My wife especially like the shit handles for the passenger. That's her biggest complaint with the 550 is that there is not much for the passenger to hold on to.
Where/how did you come up with the curved design for the bars across the back of the cage?
JDTECH07
04-21-2013, 09:36 PM
Well I was trying to make the shit handle and that was my first attempt and I didn't like it so I just put it to side and while I was making the cage I was trying to figure out what to put there and my wife walked up with it and set it up there and we liked it so welded it in and turned out pretty good. The 2 best things I have done according to her was the 4 point harnesses and the shit bar lol.

How did you attach the harness at the bottom, I know you need a bar across the top, but not sure about the bottom?
