Good deal. I put the Terra 3500 on mine with the KFI mount plate.

Is that synthetic rope or cable? It looks like synthetic but that's the first time I've seen it used with a roller fairlead.

I also use synthetic rope with a roller fairlead. Is there a reason I should not be ?

I would think the rollers would be better for everything but when winch kits are sold with fairleads the synthetic rope ones always have the smooth billet aluminum while wire cables have rollers.

I found this on one website (http://www.okoffroad.com/editorial-rope.htm):

A Note on the Fairlead:
We recommend not to use a roller fairlead with synthetic winch rope. Why? For many reasons:

- Winch rope is designed to flatten-out under load, and therefor could get pinched in the corners of a roller fairlead.
- A steel roller (even a new one) gets weatherized and rusted quickly (see image below) and is not good for the rope.
- Synthetic winch rope is actually too smooth to roll the roller.
- An old roller fairlead is not good for the rope, especially if scuffed.
- A roller fairlead is much heavier.
- A roller fairlead sticks out further, reducing approach angle.
- Bolts, or spindles with C-clips on a roller might cause a winch rope to snag. Our aluminum fairlead has nothing in front for the rope to catch on.

I also learned I've been retrieving my synthetic incorrectly. I've been just rewinding until the hook is snug in the fairlead which can scratch it. I should hook it on something else near the winch so only the synthetic touches the fairlead to keep is smooth and snag free.
