What are you guys using and any place online you get your stuff at? Reading the manual, want to make sure I have oil and a filter on hand for the 8 hour change that is recommended. The dealer I got my gator from is an hour way, might be able to order online from them but wondering if there is anywhere else that is reasonably priced? Anything else you guys recommend to have on hand for maintenance...?

I get all my maintenance stuff from the local dealer, 40 miles from home.

I have the cheapo Briggs engine in my 550 and the local John Deere dealer is less expensive for the Deere branded filter than I can get the Briggs branded one. I never saw that coming.

A grease gun can come in handy, you've only got fittings on the driveshafts but you'll need a grease gun when you're ready to do them.

You may want to invest in the JD oil filter socket for your 825..the first filter is cranked down so tight you'll struggle with a regular band wrench or oil filter pliers.:cuss:

Is everyone staying with JD oil and filters in warranty? I typically use factory brand filters but part or full synthetic oil from Pennzoil or Valvoline.

What's the oil filter socket look like you are referring to? Was on JDparts and there's a few different items...

I am partial to JD filters, but I use the same oil I use in my pickup.

Rotella is a good oil. Shell makes some pretty good products. One that is a real sleeper and if I wasn't using the oil I am now, I would give the good 'ol Pennzoil 10w30 conventional in the yellow bottle a try. From the analysis done of it by the Petroleum Quality Institute of America, it can just about put a lot of synthetics to shame. It has a very strong add pack and has some very impressive numbers. PQIA did a retest of the stuff because it came out looking so good, and they got the same test results. One serious oil that can usually be gotten on sale just about anywhere for a very good price. Great load of moly, boron, and zinc. that should provide some very good protection of cams and rockers on something like the 825i. Very low NOACK (burn off) rate comparable with the best synthetics and excellent viscosity index, equal with any synthetic blend on the market.

here is the test results of it from PQIA....
