Several questions - what is everyone using ? CB Radios ? GMRS Radio's ? FRS walkie talkie's ?
Anyone mount an antenna on the Gator for a CB or a GMRS radio ? how/where ?
Thanks in advance for comments

GMRS radio here. As long as you are within 2-3 miles of each other. Big hills about 1/4 mile distance.

Are you using "bubble pack" walkie talkies or did you install a unit in the Gator ?

Yes, 2 midland handheld radios. They are not the cheap ones but have good speakers. I wanted something portable for the timber.

The M.U.R.S. radio band is perhaps a little better than the ones listed already in that the signal is better for use in vegetation (trees etc). Some claim the signal is absorbed less than the higher frequencies are. You will probably be the only one on that service so it is better for some but more difficult to have anyone hear you if you become in need of help since few people have these.
FRS GMRS are good also. But just know that even if they advertise a range of Umpteen miles you will never get this in rolling land or the woods. The radio signal does not curve as it goes over the horizon.

I've got the Midland portables too and they work great....advertised at 26 miles if I remember correctly.....I've used them at over 2 and they worked well even with cover.
