I bought a 620i about 1 1/2 years ago. The fan has never came on, although my trips have been short and usually in cooler weather. I took it to the hunting club last week, and it ran hot.Radiator is getting hot, so I assume the water pump is working. I can unplug the temperature sending unit, and the fan comes on.(so the fan is working) I was going to leave the sending unit unplugged, but the service engine light started blinking. So I replaced ther sending unit, but the fan still does not come on. ANY IDEAS?????:hdscrh: :jm: :Bnghd:

The coolant temperature switch does not close until the coolant reaches 230f. It will take awhile to reach this temperature due to the large cooling capacity of these units. I always recommend using low gear on short trips. This helps the engine warm up quicker. If you make alot of short trips you can build up condensation and get water in the oil.
