Glove box lock

Can anyone tell me if the glove box lock that JD sells for the 850i latches itself shut when you close it or do you still have to turn the knob?

I purchased this and no, it does not latch when you shut it. In fact, you have to re-use the steel latching bar from your original lock. It was an easy install and well worth the $12

I went for 140 km ride yesterday and stopped in a small town for a beer. Was nice to be able to lock up the glove box with my GPS, truck keys, etc

Thanks for the info. I will probably get one for the extra security (helps keep the honest people honest) but I was hoping it would latch itself.
