My 4x2 seems to have lost power. I think it is the brakes dragging. It will hold itself on a slight hill while in neutral is why I'm thinking the brakes are dragging. Rungs good but doesn't go nearly as fast as it did before. I have noticed that I don't have to pull the hand brake up much at all to brake it and the hand brake does also pull the brake pedal down just like I was braking with my foot. Could just be adjustment but I don't know where the adjustment is to try that. From reading other post I get the idea that the breaking components are in the transaxle, hoping that I could learn how they work before I start looking into it. I am mechanically inclined and should have no problem doing the work if I knew just how they worked or had a manual but of coarse I don't. Any help would be much appreciated. :dpe: :dpe: :dpe: :dpe:

thanks in advance.

What Gator do you have? Is it a HPX or Turf Gator 4x2? I think the HPX has four wheel hydraulic brakes while the 4x2 Turf Gator has a mechanical drum brake.

don't really know, it just says 4X2 on it (got it used). I am assuming it is the turf gator, I'm sure its not the HPX.

Here (http://www.dowdatractor.com/OemParts#/John_Deere/Gator_Turf_-PC2593/BRAKE_PEDAL_%26_LINKAGE%3a_STEERING_AND_BRAKES/25930002/2593D331C0506000003)is a link to the brake linkages & parts for the Turf Gator 4x2 and here is the brake drum (http://www.dowdatractor.com/OemParts#/John_Deere/Gator_Turf_-PC2593/BRAKES%3a_STEERING_%26_BRAKES/25930002/2593D351C0506000005). It looks like you might be able to adjust the brake cable ends where they attach.
