2001 or 2002 utility gator,really grinds when shifting . which clutch should I change?

I would tweak the idle down before messing with the clutch to see if that takes care of it.

If the idle has been properly set then I would look at the primary/drive clutch (the one on the engine). The clutch has some replaceable wear parts inside so I would not start with simply replacing the whole thing.

What Gator do you have? Most are generally known as "utility Gator" so that does not help much. Is it a TE, TH, TX, CS, CX...?
