I have 2 RSX's

1) With factory sport plastic top (roof)

2) With factory sport plastic top ( roof) and a factory glass
windshield with wiper.

Both above machines have the original plastic "quick release clamps"

My question is are both these RSX's safe to trailer on highway
at 75mph? Loaded forward or rearward on the trailer?

Thanks

I have the plastic roof on my RSX and have driven up to 75 mph with no problems. Unit was facing forward. I have a 1/2 windshield cut down 5" from factory size

Around town I don't worry about the Gator but for road trips on the Interstate I attach my windscreen (http://www.johndeeregatorforum.com/forum/showthread.php?13366-Highway-Windscreen&highlight=windscreen). I don't know if it's really needed but I know with it installed I don't worry about the Gator or it getting rock nicks after hours on the Interstate.

Interesting comments. I wonder why Deere recommends backing it on to a trailer? Mine has the windshield and I would think that wind from traveling would cause the windshield to be damaged or blow out.

According to another post in another thread (do not have link handy), it is because the gator rear is heavier than the front and better to have the most weight over the hitch for safety so there is downward force on the hitch ball.

I think I read once before that deere suggests backing it on because it's safer to pull it off vs backing it off.

After talking to my dealership, the only reason the manual recommends rear facing while on the trailer is because the trailer shown in the manual is a single axle trailer and you want the majority of the weight over the front part of the trailer. And with a single axle trailer, there isn't enough space to pull the gator on front facing.

I trailered my gator front facing on my car trailer 70 mph and had the roof crack all around the mounting brackets. JD replaced my roof and said to put tie downs over the roof from my front bumper to my rear bumper. I also have a full windshield and rear window and my roof still cracked. It is because the wind deflects off the windshield and pushes up on the roof. Poor design.
