I am interested in what you have learned.

I know you can buy a silencer for the Gator from Quad Fab.

look for this pipe it is connected with two springs not far from the engine manifold take the pipe out and cut it of at the first bend (right by my hand) then the second cut will be right before the second bend so u will be cutting out maybe 4 inches when cut apart you will see there is a second pipe inside and it is wraped with a insulation remove the pipe and insulation just from the little 4 inch piece the rest on the other side of the pipe the longer piece stays as is when you have that removed weld the pipe back together just like it was remember to mark it so you can put it together just perfect reinstall the pipe and you will have a very quiet gator ive done about 5 gators and it works great remember to remove your spark arrestor before starting the gator rev it a bit to clean out all insulation that may come loose please don't have scared doing this cause I have some going on 2 years and nothing has gone wrong let me know if you will do this and how it turned out

Why exactly does this work? Does this alter performance at all or make the Gator heat up? I tried to put a Kolpin muffler on my Gator 825i. Wouldn't work because the bed didn't have enough clearance to tilt up.

When taking out the little piece of pipe it allows the sound to move in between the pipe and insulation cause its opened up there and its not just going trough one pipe it works just like a silencer but better it will not effect performance power or any heating problems remember the airflow will remain the same there was nothing done to restrict or even open it up more the back pressure remains the same its just a way to quiet down your ride with out spending a lot of money I will be doing another one here in the next week and i will post a few pics of what i did and how it looks

I was very curious about this mod as well, seems simple enough with decent instructions. Was waiting to see more replies but surprisingly there is little comment.

I took delivery of a '14 850i yesterday. Drove it for a short while. Thought it was very loud. Don't really want to cut into the exhaust on my NEW Gator. Do you recommend the Quad Fab. Was it easy to install, and do you think it is worth the money. It is a shame that we spend a Gator load of money on these UTV's and have to spend a couple hundred on it to make it quiet. Thanks in advance on your reply

Presuming you have a hard top and full windshield and rear panel, this may help. It significantly cut down my cab noise.

The last pics you posted appear to have an additional modification to the left on the pipe. Did you also modify it in a different place. I just took delivery of a 2014 825i and it is noisy. I really dont want to spend 170 for the Quad Fab additional muffler, and dont want to cut into the exhaust on a brand new gator either. Oh well, I will have to do something...

Yes that's the first part of the mod where u take the pipe out with this mod you can do it your self and it will be a lot quieter than adding a silencer and you don't have to worry about breaking it of when using the dump bed i have a friend that has the silencer and said he can't use the dump cause the silencer is in the way I don't have one so I'm not 100 percent sure but the 2014 machines I did are now 5 months old and no problems yet as I mentioned before I did this mod to gators 2 years + and no problems

I guess I need to check the silencer on my 825i Gator with the bed up.
