I ordered a new rsx 2 weeks ago. I just got it today and was checing the paperwork and it is a 2013? Says it was built Oct 8th 2013. It has an 020000 serial number instead of the 030000 of the newer ones. This is bull:cuss:. Here it is February 2014 and I specificly said I wanted a 2014 that is why I ordered it. Its a model year old. I can't find a year anywhere on my paperwork. It probably has the old oil filter too. I kind of feel slided on this. I should have got a freshly built machine right off the line. What can I do? Are there any disadvantages to it being the older model? Have there been any refinements since it was built? Is this why JD threw out that 1K rebate, 2 yr jdesp warranty and 0 for 36 just to get rid of a bunch of units in a warehouse? Can I take it back?

You will have to work this out with the dealer. If necessary, you may need to take the case to corporate.

If all your paperwork from the purchase states it's a 2014 machine you have a very good case for either a nice $$ discount or machine replacement.....if however it is just listed as a new Gator on your paperwork (loan and buyer's order) then you really don't have much of a leg to stand on....it will hurt your resale value down the road and it sucks but if the machine is new and they didn't state 2014 then you are most like stuck.

I checked the paperwork and it doesn't say a model year just new. To top it off I just noticed where the roll bar has been damaged/paint ripped off and gouged up on the passenger side behind the rider. That shouldn't be that way at all. Isn't that a safety concern? I would think that the roll bar should be replaced.

Your dealer should have noticed that too. There must be more to the story.

I wonder what though. I would think because where it is at the it would have had to been done by moving it around with a fork lift or something on a skid. You couldn't do that by rolling it over.

I'll bet they threw out that rebate to get rid of the '13s they have laying around. Very bad on JDs part. I'm sure the dealer didn't get a '13 on purpose. I am screwed and i'm pissed!

I would take it back to the dealer and leave it and tell them to call when your 2014 is in. My 2013 also had some minor paint damage on the bar in a similar place but my dealer takes care of me very well so I let it slide.

I am getting ready to order a 850 trail in 2 weeks and how can you make sure that you will get a 2014

I dont know how to make sure. I thought I was quite clear. Like said before my paperwork doesnt give a year so I may be screwed. I got it Friday so I could rip around all weekend on it but there it sits in the garage with all of 2 miles on it because i'm afraid if I ride it they wont do anything about either issue.

Buyer beware ( if it sounds to go to be true it usually is ) my experience with sales people is if you don't ask they don't always include all the information just the stuff they want you to know.
Good luck hope it all works out for you.

Well the dealer called the factory and it is actually a 2013. This is very deceiving on JDs part especially when another guy on another Gator site ordered his a couple weeks before I did and got a 2012 model. This sucks. I do have the option of taking it back to them no harm no foul which I appreciate. The owner of 7 JD stores didn't know this was going on so it brought light to them. The 825is are for sure '14s mainly because they sell extremely well. The sxs world pretty much revolves around model year-except to JD. Now I am pricing a new 825i with power steering which will be a '14 with nets for sure. There is no more money off on the '13s because of this either. I have until tomorrow morning to decide what to do-its still sitting in my garage at the moment. Hence this has to be why JD is throwing the warranty, rebate and 0%. The bad is that they are pawning off 2012 and 2013 models. You can't get a 2014 RSX until probably mid summer. This info came right from the factory.

Should I keep it? They said they would replace the roll bar.

Have you talked to the dealer about sweetening the deal a bit? Maybe get them to toss in an extra.....maybe $500 in accessories or something along those lines. They may go for something like that. Otherwise if it was me I would return it, as much as JD dealers and factory would like to make us think they are the exception in the SxS world and year doesn't matter that is 100% a lie....that is going to significantly impact your resale and your trade in value....no way I would be happy buying last years machine without a big bargain involved.

I only paid 13k for the camo trail model. I'm pretty sure thats dirt cheap especially with the 2 yr warranty and 0 for 36. They were bar far the cheapest around. Other dealers said they were losing money on the deal and wouldnt come close. They told me there was nothing left to give and just say the word and they would come get it.

You traded in a 2012, how long do you expect to keep the 2013? If the answer is less than 4 yrs I don't think the deal will pay off in the long run but it's your call. If you really want an 850 I guess you don't have many options, the only thing that is going to suck is if you trade it in a yr or so and you get docked for the book value of your "older" machine. The value isn't going to be higher just because it didn't go into service until 2014.:Sdangl:

I didn't trade my 825i I sold it outright. Got 15K out of it too. I said the hell with it and sent it back. I bought a new (2014) Ranger 900 xp eps in titanium matte instead. At least I know what year it is!

I hope it works out. Got a pretty good deal on it after shopping around. Will be nice to have power steering and tilt wheel-and 60 hp. I will still be here frequently.

That's a nice ride....do you trail ride? If so is the Ranger going to fit? 66" wide?
Those are awesome buggies and that engine is a beast.

I do trail ride. Ranger is 60" wide which I think is slightly narrower than my 825i. What JD needs to do is put the rsx power in the 825i. Thats why I went with the ranger. Seemed to be a good mix of work and play. Rsx may be all play-its jumpy for sure.

60" will be great, I knew the RZR 900 was wider than 60" vs the 800 which was under 60. Sounds like they were smarter with the Rangers.:Ysnd:
I honestly can't say I've wanted for more power than my 825i provides, up to 44 mph the thing hauls pretty well. I'm able to hang with my friends RZR 800 until I hit the speed limiter then he walks away.:jm: I would like it if they made the 825i a bit narrower....anything from 56-60" wide would be nice, I've dragged my protection bars against width limiter rocks a few times, you need to be angled perfect to make it through them.:Nnd:

The Ranger is 60 hp and goes a little over 60 mph. Seemed like a good fit, like an 825i with rsx engine. That is what I was after. Hopefully it doesnt suck gas as bad as my 825i did.

I was told they are not making 2014 model year RSX's yet because the sales have been too slow and there is too many still sitting on the lots.
