Just purchased the paper Tech Manual--my mechanic prefers it--for the 2014 825i. Part# TM107119, print dateis 13 December 2013 & 1 1/2 inches thick. Cost was $140 & taxes + $20 freight . :NPty:

Sections include:

Specifications

Engine-Gas

Electrical

PowerTrain

Steering

Brakes

Miscellaneous

Services Tools

All Black & White, no color pictures. Looks to be about a reams worth of paper if someone wanted to buy the CD version & print a copy. Certainly should be cheaper that way. A person could buy 3 Hole Punched paper (http://www.staples.com/Staples-Multipurpose-Paper-8-1-2-inch-x-11-inch-3-HOLE/product_562783) & put it in a 3 ring binder or put printed pages in sheet protectors (http://www.staples.com/Avery-Diamond-Clear-Economy-Weight-Sheet-Protectors-100-Pack/product_923690). Will add scanned Table of Contents to this page soon.

I suspect JD does print on demand given the sales, storage costs, etc. since they probably have a zillion manuals so you are paying for that. You could order the D and do it yourself. I agree you could likely buy a printer and do it yourself for that price.

You won't save much if anything buying a cd and printing it yourself with a cheap printer. Inkjet would not be worth the effort, the pages would not hold up and you would use a lot of ink. So you need a laser printer and most of them are costly to buy and so are the laser cartridges.

Bunky & Mike, ow right you both are. Hope this experience teaches folks a little something. Do Your Research!!! I bought the paper manual not realizing I'd pay so much in freight. However if a person does have access to a laser printer or can get a CD Copy printed at the local Staples, Office Max ect... cheaply enough, it could be worth it. Just a few minutes ago bought a Bubba Rope (http://www.bubbarope.com/atv-snatch-rope) & Safety Seal 30 String Pro Tire Repair Kit (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001DIECCK/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)for an up coming ride later this month. I did some research & decided that these would work. The tire Repair kit can be in the garage, but easily move to the Gator's Go bag along side this recovery rope when I ride. Live & Learn.

Most places like Staples, Office Max etc won't print or copy copyrighted material as it would illegal for them to copy it. Had that denied before. We had operators manual for our GPS Survey equipment on CD and they refused to make us copies. We could make them legally because we owned the rights to it and had to find one of our offices to do it for us. It took quite a bit of time to accomplish it.

My 825i CD manual is about 748 pages. The PDF does not appear to be locked and you can print pages. The only color is in the schematic where battery hot line is shown in read. The repairs section details does not list every repair action such as seat belt replacement to name one.

I think I got my 2011 manual off ebay for $20 or so, I can't remember but it was pretty cheap.
