View Full Version : Dipstick has milky white stuff on it

Pulled the dipstick on my 2006 Gator TS (Kawasaki FE290D) and noticed (as usual) that it is covered with a milky white substance. I gather this is from condensation due to it not being used very often.

Anyway, simply changing the oil doesn't seem to get rid of this stuff because when I check the dipstick the next day it still has this white goo on it.

How can I stop this from happening, or at least mitigate this problem? Would switching to synthetic oil help? Also, is there some sort of engine flush available that I can use to 'clean out' the engine of this white crap?

Welcome, ron-jeremy. I don't think it's condensat, I fear it's a broken gasket.

Thanks for the prompt reply! Any idea which gasket I should be looking at?

Actually, the engine is air cooled, so I can't imagine it's the head gasket if that's what you where thinking.

If the oil is very aerated (over filled) it will be foamy too.

Run the engine for an extended period to cook the water out of the engine. Do you cross water, park the gator outside, pressure wash the engine, use the gator infrequently ?? All possible culprits...

No idea, but here's a Link to the service manual (http://www.google.de/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwjpndnWq4vLAhWGuRoKHbyiAkgQFggcMAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.mymowerparts.com%2Fpdf%2FKawa saki-Service-and-Repair-Manuals%2FFE120-FE170-FE250-FE290-FE350-FE400-KAWASAKI-SERVICE-REPAIR-MANUAL.pdf&usg=AFQjCNHXwzNBDkHEm7c25_QtzBRUQ-YTbw&bvm=bv.114733917,d.d2s), I hope it's helpful.
