Greetings from New Zealand. I'm the chief of a volunteer fire brigade on the outskirts of our major city of Auckland that runs a Gator 6x4 diesel as a fire and rescue vehicle. I've tried to upload pictures without success so here's a link to a site that will show you what it looks like http://111emergency.co.nz/J-M/LaingholmVFB.htm. It has several modules including one for rural firefighting which includes a 380 litre water tank and small fire pump plus another for carrying a basket stretcher with an attendant seat. Or we can use it for load carrying. In that role it has been deployed to major fires because its low pressure tyres ( tires) allow it to drive over charged fire hoses without interrupting the flow of water.
Are there any other fire departments or other emergency services on this forum also using Gators ? I would be very keen to exchange information

OK, I was successful in uploading pictures. The first is of the Gator at a forest fire, the second is of it moving equipment around a major fire at a derelict former meat processing works and the third is of it with its towing vehicle at a motor race about an hour from us a few weeks ago. The event was for V8 super cars, which is a bit like a downunder NASCAR series. They attract big crowds and the Gator was used as a first attack fire vehicle thanks to its ability to negotiate its way through pedestrian areas not accessible to full size fire trucks

Very nice. One of the local companies has a 6X4 and get a lot of use out of it.
