Starter making noise at start up

I have a XUV 550 that's making a noise when I turn the key. Sounds like something slipping. Does it worse when cold but is starting be bad when warm also. Could this be the starter going bad?

I have the same noise its the starter drive the shaft gets dry and causes it to make that squaling noise im not going to worry to much about it , I have a feeling when the weather warms up you wont hear it but if you do you can pull the starter out and lubricate the starter drive
