finally was able to get ahold of a john deere tech with question about engine interference the 825 3 cyl and he assured be it was not an interference engine so no worry about destroying the engine if timing belt breaks, but should be inspected and changed at a reasonable interval unless you want to walk home, hope this info eases your mind about this.
