My friend Kurt is moving his business and asked me I wanted a Cub Cadet. I went over today and picked up a model 122. It's pretty close to original and has the creeper gear option.

The lever is for the creeper ( low range) gear and it even came with the original manual

Now my 1968 model 125 has an older brother

Earlier in the week, I cleaned the 10-12 year old gas varnish out of the gas tank, fuel sediment bowl and carburetor. Six continuous hours in the parts washer at work did nothing to cut the gunk ( alien life forms? ) so I used berkebile 2+2 gum cutter. That cut right thru it.

I changed the oil, changed the plug from a Champion to an Autolite and it fired right up.

Drove it around the yard, checked out the mower deck and the creeper gear. Everything works

I swapped decks on the 125 and the 122 since the 125 deck is in running shape.

I mowed with the 122 on thursday after work. It smokes a little but it'll be fine for a few weeks while I rebuild the 125.

I still need to sharpen the blades and adjust the cut height up a little bit but it sure cut nice.
