How big a winch are you guys running on you XUV. I just got my 825i and trying to decide what type and size of winch to put on it. Pretty much decided on a warn winch but not for sure which model..

Rule of thumb is 1.5 times the weight of the machine. I believe the Warn RT30 comes standard on the 825.

How does it mount? Does it need a special plate? I was going to get a 4500 lb winch but it doesnt look like it will mount directly to the mount area. I don't want a reciever mount.

The parts manual shows the Warn RT30 winch, the RT40(4000lb) is bigger so I'm not sure it would fit in that space. It also shows a winch mounting bracket/plate in front of the radiator. I'm not sure if the mount/plate is there from the factory or if you have to order it seperate. I priced out the winch mount parts and it's approx. $120.00.

Guys, I am attempting to install the RV40 Warn winch in the XUV 825i. Your opinion that it won't fit with existing bracketry is correct. It's too big to fit into the inset without major mods to the bumper and the underplate. I'm going to have to modify a commercially-available plate from an aftermarket vendor that was offered as fitting the XUV. Not with the RV40 - that's a big honker.

So, fair warning on that combo. The market seems slow to catch up with the Gator XUV version from what I'm finding out.
