825i Steering Recall -Letter received January 2018
I just recently received a letter that my 2014 825i falls within those serial numbers of a recall regarding steering issues. This is my first recall on my machine. I quote from the recall letter...
- "The steering shaft has the potential to separate from the steering rack assembly. If this occurs, it may result in loss of control of the vehicle."
- "...John Deere has received reports of 9 incidents with O injuries."
See my post from April of last year about my steering issue. Guess I should've consulted the dealer last year.

My Dealer called & offered to come to my house & do the Recall upgrade/ repair, a few weeks ago. It consists of installing an L shaped bracket between the steering shaft & the rack. The bracket is somewhat smaller than 2 CD jewel cases in an "L" shape
I told them, "sure, I have a heated garage your Tech can do the work in. Oh & by the way, I've installed an aftermarket heater your Tech may have to work around..." So the Tech arrived on time & about an hour an a half later, he was finished. Opened the hood & removed it, but nothing else major from the machine was taken off to get at the steering shaft.

It does not look like mine is within the serial numbers.

Took mine to dealer, they called back 3 days later. When I dropped it off, they have 3 other 825s outside to be done.
