Improve turning radius by removing tires on 6x4

How to improve turning in my 6x4
Can I remove 1 set of tires and turn it into a 4x2? If so, could I cheat and remove the rear set, put it in 4 wheel mode to get a shorter turning radius?
    Regards,

    I don’t believe you have a 4X4 mode, only a differential lock.

I didn't realize that both rear axles were 'always on'...and that the lever between the seats gets all 4 back tires turning...or does it simply get 2 tires (1 from each axle) turning together?

That is exactly what I did. Actually, it was because I had two flats at the same time. Removed two and kept two wheels at the back. You will never go back to 6 wheels, unless you have to carry a fair load, in which case, you should really put them back on.
